ALUX Appoints Former Byrobot CEO Ji Sang-gi as Executive Director of Drone Division to Expand Business and Advance Proprietary Technologies
Edtech company ALUX, known for its coding robots, announced on the 19th that it has appointed Ji Sang-gi, former CEO of Byrobot, as Executive Director of its newly expanded drone division to strengthen its drone business and technological capabilities.
Ji, a robotics expert, holds both a bachelor's and master's degree in mechanical engineering from Hongik University. Since 2005, he served as a flight robot researcher at the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology and went on to found Byrobot in 2011, contributing to the growth of the domestic toy drone market through purely Korean-developed technologies.
Byrobot, under Ji's leadership, stood out as the only domestic company in the coding robot industry to independently develop and manufacture drones. The company earned major accolades such as the Prime Minister’s Award at the 2016 Multimedia Technology Awards and a Gold Prize in the Robotic Toy category at the 2017 European Product Design Awards.
Through Ji's addition, ALUX aims to elevate its proprietary drone and robotics technologies, creating a product lineup that spans both land and aerial platforms. The company plans to internalize essential drone technologies such as wireless communication algorithms, robotic control, and sensor filtering.
ALUX will also accelerate the development of convergence technologies that integrate drones with diverse content, enabling applications beyond simple flight, including survival battle drones, coding drones, and recreational drones.
Ji commented, “By combining ALUX’s infrastructure and network with the technical expertise and experience I’ve accumulated, I will work to broaden the foundation of the drone industry. I plan to focus on advancing product technologies to usher in a new era for the robotics and drone sectors.”
Da-in Lee, Co-CEO of ALUX, added, “We’re thrilled to join forces with one of the top experts in drone development. We will spare no effort in investing in both human and material resources and supporting research to firmly establish ALUX as a leading robotics technology company in the industry.”
