ALUX Signs MOU with Marine Drone Tech to Expand Korea’s Drone Ecosystem
On the 24th, ALUX (CEO Chiheon Lee), a leading drone technology company, announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Marine Drone Tech to cooperate on expanding the domestic drone ecosystem.
The signing ceremony was held at ALUX’s headquarters in Seoul, with key figures including ALUX CEO Chiheon Lee and Marine Drone Tech CEO Uichul Hwang in attendance.
The MOU was signed under ideal conditions for synergy between the two companies’ technical strengths and business capabilities. ALUX, known for its mass production expertise and independently developed flight controller (FC) technology, is actively expanding into core component supply beyond complete drone systems. Marine Drone Tech, in turn, seeks a stable domestic supply chain and a reliable production partnership for its product development efforts.
Through this MOU, ALUX plans to expand its partnerships with other Korean drone companies and take the lead in building a competitive, collaborative domestic drone ecosystem. The collaboration between ALUX and Marine Drone Tech is expected to have a positive impact on the overall Korean drone industry.
Having entered the market in 2019 with lightweight drones, ALUX has recently gained attention as a key alternative supplier to Chinese drones amid U.S.-China tensions. Just two years after launching its first drone in 2022, the company secured multi-million-dollar export contracts in the U.S. and Japan and has since sold over 150,000 units globally. Its in-house FC system ensures stable flight and precise positioning across varied environments. Notably, ALUX’s FC weighs 90% less than those of global competitors and integrates RF, motor/power drivers, and other advanced features, offering significant technological superiority.
If this MOU leads to a mass production system based on domestic drone technologies, it will allow both companies to respond quickly to rising demand and gain a significant edge in the rapidly growing global drone industry. In addition, the use of domestically sourced components will strengthen industrial self-reliance.
ALUX CEO Chiheon Lee stated,
“This MOU with Marine Drone Tech goes beyond a simple technical partnership—it's a foundational step for the future of Korea’s drone industry. Our domestically developed and mass-produced FCs are highly competitive in both price and performance compared to foreign-made alternatives, giving us strong potential for high market share at home and abroad. This will ultimately enhance the global competitiveness of Korea’s entire drone sector.”
Marine Drone Tech CEO Uichul Hwang added,
“Localizing drone systems for maritime delivery and tuna school detection has major implications for securing technological leadership and stable production. As a leading domestic drone solution provider, we aim to drive innovation in the global drone industry.”
